I Ventured out into the wintery Yorkshire wilderness for my first shoot of 2015 with local singer songwriter Rupert Stroud.
The first location was a quaint coffee shop in Ilkley, which had a fantastic feature wall with some faux coffee stains. We'd arranged to do the shoot before the shop opened, so we had to turn the shoot around fairly quickly. In then interest of saving time, I used a single flashgun through a beauty dish. The less time I could spend on setting up gear, the more time I'd have to try nail the shot. We tried a handful of set ups, before sitting down and grabbing a quick flat white and some courgette cake (yes. Cake. With courgette in it.)
After the cake was polished off and the gear was packed up, we made our way out into the Yorkshire Dales for our second location shoot. By this point the weather had turned almost blizzard like which scuppered our ambitions of venturing deep into the dales, so settled on local beauty spot Bolton Abbey instead. This presented a good opportunity to get a shot of Rupert out in the snow, which I was keen to get. It's rare I get an opportunity to do a shoot in tough weather conditions, so I figured it made sense to try make a feature out of it! With that shot nailed, we raided another local coffee shop to grab more hot beverages and a bacon butty. Stellar.
