An evening with Colin Stetson

The wonderful people at FACT Magazine sent me into Leeds to spend a couple of hours with the world-renowned avant-garde Saxophonist, who was in the midst of a tour to support his latest album "Sorrow: a re-imagining of Gorecki's 3rd symphony".

Whilst perhaps not a household name, Colin is a truly remarkable artist who's produced his own material as well as collaborating with loads of amazing acts - Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, David Byrne, Tom waits, and The Chemical Brothers to name a few.

We met up with Colin at the Howard Assembly rooms where we did a short interview and very brief portrait shoot. As for the show? Phenomenal. One man and a leviathan 100 year old bass saxophone booming out a driving, complex wall of sound the likes of which I'd never heard before. Just unreal. Support for the show came from local hero Juffage too, who was equally awesome.
