What better way to bring 2016 to end than photographing my favourite band on their latest Arena tour?
I love photographing Biffy Clyro. I've shot them 11 times since first photographing them at Leeds Academy back in 2010, and I'm still not bored. After what's been a fairly mediocre year, this show stood head and shoulders above the rest as the marquee gig of the year for me, with perhaps the only exception being the other Biffy show I shot this year - the acoustic set at Headrow House
The setup for the show was pretty much identical to their headline set at Leeds Festival earlier this year, which was massively handy for me as I knew exactly what to expect. This was particularly useful for the second track - the epic Living is a Problem Because Everything Dies - with the stage lighting up with every hit of the track's elaborate opening beat.
Having endured a spell of shows that were less than fun to shoot - be it awful contracts, terrible light or ridiculous shooting positions, it was great to get back in the FD Arena and shoot a decent show, and for the first time in a long time I left a show happy. Obviously Biffy were sh*t hot, too.
'MON THE BIFF!
