The Cribs @ Leeds Arena: Mens' Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iconic Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever the Jarman brothers took to the road, playing seven dates across the UK, culminating in a huge adopted-hometown show at Leeds Arena, which I had the pleasure of photographing.

I'd not been this excited about shooting a gig in a long time. I'd shot The Cribs many times before, but this show was special - maybe even more special than last summers Millennium Square show. It was due to be their biggest date yet, playing their groundbreaking third album in full. They'd pulled in some great support for the show, too: local pals Pulled Apart By Horses, and Slaves.

The Jarmans did not disappoint - this was a fantastic show to shoot. I'd got myself an Access All Areas pass, so I managed to get some real variety in my shots - my personal favourites being when Ryan collapsed to the floor while I was side of stage, and when Ryan and Gary leant against each other. Things really peaked in the tenth song, when Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo took to the stage to join the band in a live rendition of Be Safe - something they've never previously performed together in UK. That was one hell of a moment to witness, let along photograph!

This really was an epic show which I felt privileged to be able to document, and served as a timely reminder as to why I love doing what I do. Viva Yorkshire.
