Chase & Status @ Manchester Apollo
The lovely folks over at Mixmag sent me over to Manchester for Chase & Status' live return.
I'd only previously shot Chase & Status on larger stages - mainly festivals, in daylight - so was looking forward to shooting them in a more challenging environment. By their very nature, dance/drum & bass/electro shows can often be trickier to shoot, as the light is more of a feature of the show than the more indie/rock stuff I'm used to, but things soon picked up.
The show started with lots of red light, lasers, and backlight which all made for great silhouettes but that was about it. As the show progressed though, more and more visual elements came into play to add some real variety in my shots, including pyrotechnics and CO2 cannons. It was a photographs dream! The night culminated with a huge confetti-laden rendition of their hit Blind Faith, with Liam Bailey making his way down to the crowd to join in the massive choruses.
All in all, it was a tough gig to shoot but a cracking night.
