Alt-J returned 'home' for a special show at the iconic town hall in support of their re-mix album Reduxer.
I'm not gonna lie - this was a tough, tough night at the office. On paper, this show had the potential to be phenomenal to photograph. Over the years Alt-J's stage set up has got increasingly more impressive, and against the backdrop of the amazing organ at the back of the town hall, it could have looked pretty special. COULD have.
In reality, this was a very dark show to shoot, with all the lighting coming from the sides. Don't get me wrong, it looked AMAZING, but it was just really, really tricky to shoot. I've had the pleasure of shooting these guys in pretty much every venue in Leeds - The Brudenell, Cockpit, Academy, Arena - but this was by far the toughest gig of theirs to shoot I'd experienced.
Ne'mind, you can't win em all! And on the plus side, it was great to see Alt-J again. And it wasn't like I didn't get anything. I think I'd just built up an expectation in my head of how the show was going to look, and I got it a bit wrong. Ah well.
