My final commission of 2018 saw me take on something a little different - photographing a DJ set by Haçienda legend Graeme Park.
Shooting a DJ set is more akin to shooting a club night than a gig, so this was taking me outside of my comfort zone a bit - no photo pit, plenty of smoke, and radical lighting. I had to adjust my approach somewhat, but thankfully Graeme and the guys down at the Piece Hall were more than accommodating, allowing me to shoot on the stage.
Whilst it was a little different to what I was used to, I had an absolute blast shooting this show. Thanks to the guys at Piece Hall for getting me involved, and thanks to Graeme for being so accommodating. He seemed like a really down to Earth fella - I'd love to shoot a portrait with him one day.
And as for shooting DJ sets? Maybe I'll do a few more in 2019. Let's see what happens...
