Having spent a couple of fallow years away, it was great to return to Bramham Park to shoot my eighth Leeds Festival.
A few things had changed since I last shot the festival back in 2016, but these were mainly logistical - closer car park, and a much better positioned guest/press area meant that I wasn't doing as much walking (I'm v.lazy). That said, I still managed to get over 10k steps in each day!
Perhaps the biggest change from 2016 was the weather! My last visit saw both my 5D mkIII and 6D cameras needing emergency silica gel bag treatment to be resurrected from the dowsing they got during Chvrches and Foals mainstage sets. Thankfully this year the weather couldn't have been any better, with barely a cloud in the sky and reaching a sweltering 30º on the Sunday.
As the the festival itself, there was one name in particular I was looking to photograph this year - Friday's headliner, the Foo Fighters. And Dave and co didn't disappoint! There was also a lot of Yungblud (see what I did there?!) at this years festival that I was pleased to shoot for the first time.
It was also great to catch up with all the photographers and press guys - Leeds Festival is often the only opportunity I have to shoot alongside some of the guys who travel from further afield, and being absent for a couple of years meant some of the guys had enjoyed a long - and arguably pleasant - break from my company.. :P
Really enjoyed being back at Leeds Festival - came away feeling so much happier than I have in previous years, and genuinely can't wait to go back.
Oh, and my prediction for 2020 headliners? Biffy Clyro, Royal Blood, and Bring Me The Horizon.
