I'm excited to announce that I'm offering a limited run of photo prints from last summers' fantastic Embrace show in Halifax, in support of Andy's Man Club.
Back in 2018 I launched my first print sale (#maketinychanges) in the memory of late Frightened Rabbit/Mastersystem frontman Scott Hutchison, who tragically took his own life in May 2018. This print sale proved to be really successful, with just over £3,000 being raised for the Scottish Association for Mental Health. This made me realised that perhaps I can do more with my work to help people.
I first became aware of Andy's Man Club when I shot my first show at The Piece Hall a few months after Scott's death - a show Frightened Rabbit were originally on the bill to play. I met some of the guys from the team from Andy's Man Club at that event, who told me all about the great work they are doing to support men who live with Mental Health issues, in a bid to address the high rate of male suicide in the UK. I've borrowed there "#itsokaytotalk" strapline to ensure that their cause is integral to the print sale. As someone who's struggled with their own mental health issues, It's a cause very close to my heart.
Embrace at The Piece Hall
So why photos from this show?
First and foremost, the Halifax connection. This was Embrace's hometown show to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their debut album, Andy's Man Club started in Halifax, and it's also the town I was born in.
Whilst I was pulling the plans together for the print sale, Danny McNamara shared a brave and honest thread on Twitter of his own experiences with Mental Health challenges from when he was younger, and how we leant on the Samaritans for support. This gave me further encouragement that raising money for Andy's Man Club was the right thing to do.
Four A3 prints will be available from the Embrace 21st anniversary The Good Will Out show at The Piece Hall, Halifax. The prints will be limited to a run of 200, each hand numbered and available exclusively from my online store for £30 each (+p&p). Again, huge thanks to the wonderful guys over at DS Colour Labs for supporting on printing!
Thank you to all those involved with helping this happen: Georgia and everyone at The Piece Hall; Andy, Sam and the gang at Futuresound; Andy at DS Colour Labs; and Mickey, Mike, Steve, Rick and Danny.
